Little House on the Ranch Update: Week 25 The little ranch house’s first snow!

Hello friends! I’m writing to you today from our winter wonderland here in Southern Kentucky. We had a snowmagedden of about 3 inches! (Trust me, here in SOKY 3″ of snow is crippling.)

It is so beautiful. Everything looks prettier with a blanket of snow on it… including the #littlehouseontheranch.

As a born and raised Buckeye, I adore the white stuff. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Front view(obviously). The front door is a little darker than we had anticipated. But it’s growing on us. Luckily that’s very easy to change someday if we decide we can’t live with it.

South(?) side. {You caught me, I don’t know. I’ll have to pull my compass out on my phone the next time I go down there…} For reference, the 3 windows are the bedrooms, and the door goes into the mud room/half bath.

Back view. The door goes into the kitchen. They still have to but the screen around the lanai, but I’m guessing they don’t want to do that in the snow. And the mosquitoes aren’t too much of an issue this time of year anyway.

*the opposite direction of the other side that I don’t know the direction of* The little windows are the kitchen sink, the others are all the main room.

MyFarmer and I spent a few hours in the house yesterday cleaning and mopping. The house we are in now has a little more square footage than the new house, but much more chopped up into smaller rooms. You don’t really notice the difference that makes until you start mopping. I will be investing in a much larger mop very soon. #abworkout HA!

The granite is in! It is “leathered” so it isn’t completely smooth. It feels sooo good. Sometimes I just stand there and run my hands across it. Is that weird?

I also spent a good amount of time yesterday giving the ole unicorn girl some love. My attachment to this stove is borderline unhealthy. I literally dreamed about it last night. I was playing with all the knobs and pushing the buttons. Then I woke up and started thinking about what was going to be the first meal made with her. At 2:30 in the morning. I decided on spaghetti. For those of you that know me I’m sure you are thoroughly shocked by that.

All the other appliances are in… and we already had our first mini-disaster. The refrigerator blew a fuse and turned off… and all the ice melted… onto the floor. Those waterproof floors have already paid for themselves!

The half bath is done and I think it’s adorable. I’m really happy we went with a pedestal sink. I think it works here. High-five Harris! (Yes, our cabinet maker was the who suggested to *not* do a vanity. Some salesmen he is. HA!!)

The stairs and the railings are DONE! They did such a beautiful job. Also note the extra safety braces around the big barn door. We are safe now ScubaSteve!

I’m really getting close to doing my special “kitchen edition” blog post. But this can’t wait. Everyone tried to talk me out of the shelves. And I’m so glad they didn’t. Now I have to figure out what I’m going to put on the shelves… Any suggestions? And the light above the sink… swoon.

Y’all we are so close to being done I can smell the marinara sauce! We had our final electrical inspection last week and I think they are planning to do the real deal final inspection this week.

Anyone down to help us move? There will be spaghetti and beer! And some cheap Moscato, because I don’t like beer. Or expensive wine. Basically what I’m trying to say is that I like Boone’s Farm. And spaghetti.

…Now I know what I’m making for dinner tonight.
